By road or rail, Saltcoats is under 30 miles from south west from Glasgow
and just over 20 miles north from Ayr.
Road:
From the north on the Clyde (Largs, Greenock area) take the A78 south
to Saltcoats.
From the north west (all routes via Glasgow) take the A737 via Beith to
Dalry, then take the B7071 over to Saltcoats. Alternatively from Glasgow
take the A736 via Barrhead to Kilwinning, then follow the A78 to
Saltcoats. Also you can take the M77 towards Kilmarnock and then turn
onto the A71 towards Irvine before finally following the A78 to Saltcoats.
From the west (Kilmarnock area) take the A71 towards Irvine and then
follow the A78 to Saltcoats.
From the South (Ayr, Irvine area) take the A78 North to Saltcoats
Train:
Scotrail run a very frequent service direct to Saltcoats from Glasgow
Central and Largs. From Ayr you must change trains at Kilwinning.
Bus:
From Glasgow take the Stagecoach X36 service to Saltcoats. From Irvine
and Kilmarnock, both Stagecoach and FirstBus operate very frequent
services. Stagecoach also operate services from Largs/Greenock and Ayr.
